NATURAL STONE: GLOBAL AND LOCAL
Rivard Stone carries a wide array of natural stone options. Not only do we have many choices available from our local quarries, but we also source stone from all over the United States, and in some cases from international sources as well. Our showroom features many of the options that are available; you are welcome to browse our showroom and selections our normal business hours.
Patio Stone
We source patio stone from all over the country in an effort to provide a variety of quality options for your project. Often referred to as “steppers” or “flagstone”, patio stone is made up of naturally thin stone slabs used in paving applications. Typically between 1” – 3” thick, they come in either random shapes or square/rectangles and in a variety of colors. If your project requires it, most paving options can be gauged for size and thickness for an added cost.
Retaining Wall Stone & Edging
Rivard Stone offers a variety of random and fabricated wall stone options. These options are popular for the DIY customer as most of these pieces can be handled by one or two people to move into place. The most typical options are snapped to 8 inch depth and 12 inch depth and come in a variety of heights, colors, and textures, sourced from all over the United States.
Steps & Treads
Natural stone steps and treads come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be used in your landscaping, building entrances, or even inside your home. Whether you are looking for something rustic like rough cut round boulder steps, or something more refined like natural cleft snapped slabs, or something more formal like smooth cut-to-sizes pieces, we have it all.
Cut Stone
We have a cut stone shop on site that is capable of producing a wide variety of products for new building construction, historic restoration, landscaping, signs, monuments, and decorative pieces. In addition to our limestone, we acquire stone from all over the country that is suitable for cut stone purposes (i.e. Indiana Limestone, Mankato-Kasota Liemstone, Minnesota Limestone, Bluestone, Kansas Limestone, Vintage Red Sandstone, and more). Most of what we produce in our cut stone shop is based on custom specifications provided to us by our customers or their designers. Most cut stone products are priced and made-to-order on project by project basis.
Stone Signs & Monuments
Over the last 25 years we have produced thousands of stone signs that have been shipped all over the United States and into Canada. Each sign or monument is custom designed to fit your needs. We produce everything from small pet memorial markers and address stones up to large monuments for businesses, municipalities and government entities, parks, golf courses, religious institutions, and housing developments. Some of the monuments we have produced weigh in excess of 20 tons.
Stone Outcropping
Outcroppings are natural shaped pieces of stone that are typically used for retaining walls or accent pieces for your landscaping. All of our quarries of St. Croix Valley Limestone® and Iron Mountain Basalt produce high quality outcroppings that are available in a variety of sizes. We use heavy equipment to pick the materials out of the quarries and do not source these products out of stone piles that have been heavily blasted to produce aggregate products.
Veneer Stone
Rivard Stone is your #1 stop in the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin to select veneer stone. We have a variety of natural stone veneer selections, exclusive to us, along with a plethora of other options that are sourced from all over the United States. Many of these options are on display in our 4,200 square foot showroom, located just minutes from historic Stillwater, MN. We carry both thin veneer and full-bed veneer stone options. We can also blend colors and sizes if you prefer something custom for your project.
